Lifting a 4x2 (Questions)

2, maybe 3 part question actually. First off, I've got a 2004 1500 Quad Hemi with factory 20's and suspension.

I had asked about a month ago about the details on leveling my front end to the height of the rear. Basically, giving it the factory 4x4 stance. We were discussing 2" spacers in the front at the time.

Attacking this from a different angle...

Question #1-
Would the factory coils off a 4x4 not accomplish exactly what I'm looking to do, which is raising the front end about 2-3" to the height of the rear?

#2- If so, would it require any other parts from the suspension as well, or just the factory 4x4 coils?

#3- Will new shocks be requires for the different in height?

#4- Is replacing the coils as easy as replacing the shocks?

I know there's some extremely knowledgable folks running through here, and I appreciate your help in advance guys!

gen 3's with 4wd dont have coils so whole question is kind of OBE, they make lots of good 2w lift kits though.

I have seen the rough country and fabtech kits you check out their sites.

you can buy just springs to lift your 2by. ive been checking out 2wd lifts cause im thinking of lifting mine. rough country--got coils or spindles that will lift 3". or you can get the whole kit 3"/6". cst also has the same. fabtech does to just way more expensive. check out http://www.performancelifts.com

got some good info on there about our 2wd. the shocks shouldn't have to be changed for just 2" spacers.

you could get coils and spindles i reckon....maybe even spacers and stack them all 3 i would think

I just want to level my truck to standard 4x4 height as cheaply and easily as possible. I suppose that's gonna end up being a $80 set of coil spacers.
What I had in my mind was that I might procure a set of old 4x4 springs from someone that had installed a lift kit. But if those springs don't actually exist... LOL

the 4x4 1500 used torsion bars and the 2wd 1500 used coils like a strut.you could get drop spindles or spacer or coils

my advice....DONT LIFT IT....its a 2wd truck....it doesnt deserve the honor to be sitting tall
Raising a front end a mere 2" can hardly be considered "Lifting" by the standards of the 4x4 crowd.

but 2 inches still sits you lower then a stock 1500 4x

are you just completely against lowering it? (I am one of those guys who doesnt get raising a 2wd or lowering a 4wd)

you might wanna check w/ the local dealership. the 06 1500 will use coils for the 4wds and they might work for your truck, to lift it, but id think youd need longer shocks. you might also check the coils off a 2500 02-05, but they might stiffen the ride up alot even if they worked.

i do think spacers will be your best bet in the end.

Dodge 02-05 Fullsize 2wd Lifts: CST 3" Suspension Leveling Kit

I am also interested in leveling my 1500 2wd by raising the front end. I found these 3 inch replacement coil springs at performance lifts, but I'm somewhat confused. Do I need to get new shocks or not? They say to get new shocks and then in the next paragraph, they say to keep the stock shock or stock length. Check it out. CST 3" Coil Springs

So what do you folks think is better to level a 2wd: Coil spring spacers? or Replacement coil springs?

TIA,
Pete

for a 2wd truck....going up 3 inches i would recommend replacing the springs....i havent heard much about the 3" CST kit, but what little i did hear was good

and yes, you will definitely need new front shocks if u do this
