I tried to do a search but I came up empty handed. I am curious how much it costs to install 4.56 gears on a 2003 Ram 2500 4x4. How much are the gears and how much is the install (front and back)?

Moes sells the Ring and Pinion and install kits (for a 10.5" rear diff). I thought the 3500s can have 10.5 or 11.5" rears, but I think the 2500s have 10.5s only. You would need to verify that before buying, however ...

Master install kits (would need one for the front and rear):

The cost to install seems to vary from shop to shop and what part of the country you are from. For the 1500 guys it seems to cost about $300.00 to $400.00 per axle. I would think the 2500s would be a similar price. And yes, it is not a trivial amount of money ;)

I have been quoted 1700 to 2100 for gears and install on my 1500. Yours should'nt be too much different. I don't recomend paying that much, just what I've been quoted.

how much should i get charged on my 1500 2wd for parts & install? i just want a ball park figure to play around with thats all

For a 2WD truck, DT members have posted parts & labor costs as low as $300-bucks for the whole job too numbers that are closer to the norm around $1200-bucks. Giving you hard numbers is close to imposable because of the differences in labor cost and where the parts are purchased. Are you buying the parts or is the installer buying the parts? Are you taking the truck to someplace like a dealership where the labor cost are astronomical or a local shop where the cost much less? How many miles are on your truck? If you have more than 45K to 50K, you’ll need a Master Installers Kit that includes new seals, sleeves, and bearings. I would aim high; something like $1500-bucks. That way you have extra money if you need it. If the shop finds bad hub bearing, tie-rods, u-joints, ECT, you have the money on hand. If you don’t need it, you can always use it on the next mod for your truck.

I did a 4.56 gear install on the AAM 11.5 axle about 6 weeks ago. Here are a few pictures of that setup. I also did a 4.56 gear install on the AAM 9.25 axle about 4 weeks ago; however, these pictures are only of the 11.5 install.

I purchased my gears from Just Differentials, and the price of my gears, install kits, and differential fluid for the front and rear axles was about $1200.00.

Mine cost me $1600 before taxes. $600 for the gears, $200 for install kits, $600 for labor and $50 for fluids etc. and $150 to replace the clutches and clips in my lsd. Last summer when the Canadian dollar was basically at par or higher than the US dollar, I was quoted $1200, but that didn't include the lsd work. Unfortunately I didn't have the cash for it then.
